was a Casablanca-born French-Moroccan architect. His legacy is significant in terms of the volume of buildings created throughout Morocco, the variety of his creations, and their stature on the global stage. He is regarded as an exemplary character of the modernist architectural movement in Morocco and in Africa.
He began a career that lasted from 1947 to 1999 after completing his studies at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Marseille in 1945. He established a private practice in Morocco.
In a deep engagement with the nation, the people, and the landscapes around him, he left his stamp on the architecture of the second half of the 20th century with a decisively modern work.
